Rufio's Jon Berry -- Check him out!

Rufio's bassist Jon Berry is one of my most favorite bassists, its such a shame they broke up. Jon Berry in my opinion is the most underrated/underground bassist out there, in my opinion.

In a genre(pop punk) where bass players generally dont play very many cool licks, or get beyond just playing the root note of a chord, Jon Berry redefines the genre with some amazing bass playing. I wish I could say the same about the rest of the band, but their drummer was HORRIBLE on some of their older stuff and the singer is alright.

Anyways check out the basslines in these songs:

-Still - bass intro solo
-Out of Control - sweet pre-verse and chorus
-Never Learn - sweet bass intro
-Let Fate Decide
-A view to save
-Above Me - a few cool bass runs, cool bass solo at the end(horrible drums though)

To be honest, every one of their songs has cool basslines, the songs above are just a few that I know how to play.

In my opinion, Jon Berry is the best bassist in his genre, check him out.

Heck yeah, Jon definitely stands out in the genre. Back when I was younger and playing in my first bands we covered some Rufio songs. Playing Pirate and trying to sing it was a nightmare for me, as was Above Me. It sucks that they're done.
