Over the last couple weeks, have been watching a series called "Backstage Secrets", with each episode chronicling a different segment of setup/teardown for Rush's stop in Montreal for the the Snakes and Arrows tour. Sound, lighting, instrument setup, etc. Thought it was cool to see the roadies doing their thing for a big-ticket concert.
Then yesterday (Sunday), my brother-in-law calls me up at 5pm asking me if I'm free. I'm thinking: it's Sunday, and I wake up for work at 4am, he's up at 2am, what can he be thinking...
He's got RUSH passes!
Well, after having seen the "backstage secrets", it was really interesting seeing the show live!
Sound-wise, it was great. Lee was amazing, and I'll forever be in awe of his technique. Not only does he pluck, he hits on the backstroke, yet it all sounds natural and consistant. Not only does he handle complex bass lines, he does it while singing!
They all kept their energy levels up, and Lee was still 'strutting his stuff' around stage right up to the last song.
'nough said, I'll leave it there... I'm probably rambling, but was a great show nonetheless. I was prob'ly 40 feet from stage, in a crowd of over 20k. |
