Why would they close this? My intention is to get everyones opinion about who they think is the better band. Im not trying to start an arguement or nothing.

IMHO, Dream Theater's has continued to disappoint since they decided to add more metal styling to their sound. To me, 'Images & words' is probably one of the best prog albums in the history of music, but also their latest offering is one of the worst
This is by the way coming from someone who listens to metal all day, but to me personally, DT unique style is in their arrangements and song structure, not in their wanking.
Whether it's the effect of Kevin Moore leaving the band, it's up for debate, but what is clear to me is that their recent offerings are sub par.

On the other hand, RUSH are still rocking. Their latest album although not there with their best, but just for 'Malignant Narcissism', they get my vote that they still have their chops. I do not like to compare bands or think of music like sports (I hate sports), but RUSH had more offerings that blew my mind away more than any other prog band, period.

Uhh, Rush is better. And i'm a big dream theater fan

You can't exactly say Dream Theater is better when the hugest influence they take is Rush.

+1 rhapbus! My thoughts exactly. What Rush does with 3 members is beyond words. How Geddy can take Neals lyrics and phrase them to fit the music, all while playing bass, keys and samples, and singing is amazing.

I enjoy listening to Dream Theater and all, but Rush wins hands down in my book.

Rush

Rush is the better band. They write better songs. They put on a better show.

That said, I do not think there is a band in the land that is as talented as DT is. These guys have chops that do not stop for anything. Instrument to instrument these guys can flat out play.

I absolutely love RUSH. I think Dream Theater is ok, and they are talented, but rush is by far a better band.

Rush does progressive music with only 3 people while DT is 5 piece band. To me, Rush sounds better, plays better, and does more with less.

Being Canadian, it would be "easy" to perceive being "torn"..(i.e. Canadian band...vs. American band with Canadian singer..) BUT........Rush kills it... No question at all''. Hail Rush as the dignified and "huber talented" choice. Makes me proud that they represent my nationality really.....

Rush. But I also wish Rush would go back to their seventies rock sound versus the modern rock stuff of today.
