No one- least of all Fender- needs a justafiable reason to market a signature Instrument: if there is a market for it, then chances are it will be made available. YOU could make the same argument for the Sting Fender, or the now out of production Steve Harris Fender as well... but who cares. They either sell or they dont- and that alone is justification enough... to Fender anyway, imo.

Agreed. Maybe justification was not the right word, but I think you understand me.

Is it a completely new instrument concocted by Geddy and the Fender team? No. It isnt a completely stock 72 jazz bass either, notably with the thin neck and BAII. I think it was a great marketing move by Fender to hook up with Geddy, and the bass itself is fantastic for the price. Lots of people obviously want one, myself included...when I went shopping for a new bass after 21 years of playing the same one, I wanted a great value under $1000. After much research, the Geddy was the one for me (not to mention that I am a huge Rush fan so I already knew what it sounded like)
