Our drummer is a professional photographer, was hired to shoot some pics of Rush last night at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Here are a few he emailed me.

Nice pics, Curious as to camera/lens/ISO/shutter

Our guitarist is a huuuggge fan, he was in the third or fourth row, I'm not sure where our drummer was standing when he took the pics. He shot 300 - 400 of them! Sent a bunch to the New York Post, a couple other papers, he does freelance for AP. But he spent some time backstage with them, said they were very down to earth guys to hang with & talk to. No partying going on at all... Neil had a room set up back stage with a small kit in it, spent a lot of time practicing. Alex pretty much kept to himself, and Geddy was more the outgoing one.
Both of my guys loved it, the local paper review gave it a great review, said it wasn't anything different, but all three just shone. About 3 hours long, did all of Moving Pictures.
As always Neil's solo was spectacular, said it ended with him doing a swing thing with prerecorded big band music. Strange but cool. And Geddy's bass playing was just incredible. It was neat to see a reviewer mention that! How his hands were all over the neck of his bass while he sang. Said he was in fine vocal form too!
On another note, I just got back from seeing Alice Cooper tonight! He played at the Proctors Theatre right here in good old Schenectady NY!! Great show, what a character.... |

Geddy's bass sounded the best I have heard in years, very punchy, crunchy with little or no overdrive. The standout tunes for me were Leave That Thing Alone, Subdivisions, Freewill, La Villa Strangiato and of course Red Barchetta. Oh and it is obvious he is using some chorus effect here and there, is very noticeable at the end of Red Barchetta.
On a side note, Neil's drums sounded very boomy and non-descript, so not sure what happened there...Alex sounded great as usual. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
