ryan martinie bails on ampeg

While looking on the warwick website i read an article informing that ryan martinie (mudvayne's bassist) will no longer use a ampeg svt4pro through a ampeg 810E cab. He has used a warwick X-Treme 10.1 through 2 warwick 410pro cabinets (guessing he will still be using a dbx 160A compressor unless he preferes the built in warwick compression). Is it just me or are more and more bassists turning away from ampeg for different brands? Anyone think ampeg will soon be a way of the past and not of the future??

To be honest, I hope so. Ampeg is a great brand and all, but I think people give them more credit than they are due. I wonder what the next really big brand will be?

I think that when an artist turns away from a company at his stage, it's more for money and advantages than it is for sound. It's not like he sounded bad with his previous setup...

Don't forget that at that stage of the game, it's a big buisness.

If Ampeg wants to sponsor me, I'm down.

Well maybe hes like us, maybe he just wants a different tone something different. He plays Warwick bass, why not take the endorsement a little farther. Anyways, i just hope his sound still kicks ass and he'll have some suprises for the CD's and tour. I AM READY!!

apparently some of their new tracks he used the warwick rig to record it and his tone doesnt sound much different from his past tone, i mean his tone is mainly from his bass, technique and compressor so the amp wont differentiate the tone too much. I think more and more bassists are turning away from ampeg (especially artists who have been endorsed for 5+ years) because of when they got endorsed ampeg was the shi t now that they've moved to asia they're not as good as they use to be.
