I think this guy is one of the most inventive and skilled players of today, as with the rest of Mudvayne. So I'm suprised to see no one has started a club of him :s
So here goes

I totally agree, Im a metal man through and through and he's the reason I picked up a bass. He's also the only one Ive ever seen make slapping Metal!
Ill join up for sure, we're a 2 man army now!

i am aswell. however i disagree that the rest of the abnd is as telented.

and i will admit that hes so popular because he can be heard int he mix, if other bass palyers turned up the treb and didnt have a rhythm guitar to mask them, ryan wouldnt stand out so much

i want in!

Ryan is immensely talented, not only because you can hear him, but because you can hear him and you recognize the skill it takes to play what he plays unlike many bassist in the genre. As for the rest of the band....meh.

He's popular for his tone and his unconventional approach. He does tapping and slapping in the choruses of songs for pete's sake!

hellyeah

Ryan got voted off the best bassist thread. I tried to keep him alive but obviously a lot of people haven't heard enough of him to appreciate. Or just hate metal bassist.

Closed minded people disgust me, just cuz a guy plays petal doesnt mean he's a bad bassist, I think playing metal makes you an even better bassist, especially if your ryan martine. Its crazy how much skill the guy has, I play metal bass and I could only hope to practice and be 1/100th as good as him.

Ryan is my biggest inspiration in playing bass. In fact, the only reason I picked up bass was to play "Dig" bass line. So count me in please.

I like the vocals, but the guitar is like rhythm guitar with no lead, the bass is kinda leading. I dont like hellyeah though, I guess its not cool without ryan.
