16s can do 16 ohm cabs (if you are doing two and want your final load to be 8 ohms)
or 4 ohms if youre going for that final load for more sesitivity.
dont ask me where I thought you said you wanted a 4 ohm final load. readingfail on my part. I think I figured that cause i might be pickin up a marshall cab and tossin in 4 16 ohm ****ers for a 4 ohm final load. I was too busy thinkin about myself

If you dont mind the weight I recommend looking at these: Delta 12LFC ~ $85
If you wanted to go lighter these would kill: 12PR300
The nice thing about the faital pro's is you could run four 16 Ohm speakers in parallel and get to 4 Ohms.

The nice thing about the faital pro's is you could run four 16 Ohm speakers in parallel and get to 4 Ohms. | How does a cab's ohm rating affect sensitivity? I thought ohms was just electrical resistance. Just something you use to not over tax an amplifier. I know how to match ohms between cabs and heads but don't get how it affects tone.
I was considering the delta 12LFC. Why you like it more than the delta pro 12a?

I know it's not an EGC, or some big name's axe, but it kills for me. Sorry, but you can see where dad put his "love" for SRV into it. Hope you enjoy.

And yeah Pocket, that guitar is awesome!

I was considering the delta 12LFC. Why you like it more than the delta pro 12a? | Its not something I would really worry about. I guess you could have slight tonal differences in a tube amp depending on how the taps are set up on the output transformers. In a SS amp it would only matter when you are reaching the clipping point of the amp. So lets look at my PF-500. At 8 Ohms it has 350 watts. With a big 8 Ohm cab I may reach the power limits of the amp and get some SS clipping that doesnt sound great. Now if I had that same cab loaded differently and it presented a 4 Ohm load I would have 500 watts on tap. Now run less risk of hitting the clipping point on my amp. The difference being that with an 8 Ohm cab I can use two, which is ~6db increase in SPL.
As far as the impedance/power handling/sensitivity/frequency response association in the driver goes, that is all down to particular design.

| | DethByDoom | | Join Date: Sep 2012 Location: Houston,Tx | | | My tube amps can do either 4 or 8 ohms. If I want run it with my 810 it would have to be 4ohms so they match? Amp set to 4 ohms, and a 4ohm cab into each speaker output. Right? I think that'd be too much for my vb2 to push. Idk. I haven't run more than my 810. 810+412... Thats a lot of power. And sound.
Thanks peavey.
Didn't get much sleep at work last night so I'm goin to bed, thinking of 12" speakers and deer and ohms. Mmmm sleeeeeep.

The Eminence 12s I use are basslites (I think). I'll pull one and check the model number next time I'm at the space. |
