I didn't see Letterman, but I saw her on an early show yesterday (Tuesday 09 Feb) and the bassist sure didn't look like Paul Denman. The bass had all the characteristics of a Gretsch- the distinctive Gretsch tailpiece and headstock, and it looked like what Stephen Stills and Neil Young used in Buffalo Springfield.

Doesn't look like Denman. That song sounds much better played live. I hate the recorded version!

+1 According to the NY Times, Sade Adu is now 51. She is still a stunning woman.

Wonder what happened to Denman? His sweet style and his 'Ray tone just complemented her material perfectly, I always thought.

Actually. I believe it is Denman. Looks like he changed his look a bit and is hanging his bass alot lower now. Check out this vid of the making of the album.

It is him. He's tatted up a bit now though.

Yeah that's him alright. Paul uses differen't basses every now and then. And he's played them 'slung low' since the 90's now.

Yeah, it definitely is Paul, contrary to popular belief, Sade is a "real" band, not a solo artist. Plus, I think they've consisted of the same members ever since their inception so he's not really a hired gun who can be quietly let go.

That's what I thought as the album credits always said something like "Sade is..." and listed all the band, not just Sade herself. Good to know he's still there!

It's weird how the English Wikipedia article makes it sound as if she's a solo artist whereas the German one emphasizes that Sade is a "real band". Well, I guess that's the beauty of the 'pedia.
