Salvador Saturday Night

I caught Salvador on Saturday night in Appleton WI and I gotta tell you Josh Gonzalez, their bass player is a monster player. Plays an Ernie Ball MM 4 string and brings it all night long. Great tone, don't know any other player using that bass that gets the tone he gets. He has a great command of Latin tumbaos etc and can rock with the best of them. Anybody else catch this show?

I didn't catch that show but I did catch them back in October. I love how the band gets into the music. Josh is no exception.

I got to meet Josh for a little while and got a chance to ask him a few questions. He's a nice fella. He has a really solid funky groove. It's very different from a lot of other contemporary christian music but right up my ally.

When I saw them two years ago he was playing a Warwick 5. Sounded good on that too. I really like his Latin grooves. He isn't as virtuostic as Alex Moran, but I think he plays with more taste, and really digs in and plays "in the pocket." From the guys in that genre (christian latin music) he is my favorite.
