Great show in Minneapolis. P-funk fans were well served as Bernie Worrell, Blackbyrd McNight a number of others were of the party and they did a wealth of P-funk anthems. In the P-funk tradition, there were a bunch of people on stage with a lot of freedom of intervention with lots of synth/filter effects.

One thing that struck me though is that he had two bass players to back him up (TM Stevens and Owen Riddle) so he was maybe playing a few licks here and there but certainly not holding it down in the process. A departure from the past (saw him live in Paris in 1991 and Cincinnati 1999). Not to mention the two keyboarders were also exchanging bass lines on some songs. So if you go don't expect to hear Bootsy play the bass too much ...

A little bit like George, he's becoming more of inspirational leader. There is clearly a message of peace and positive energy in the whole experience. Bootsy is all about people. The tour (funk capital of the world) is going through the US in June and on to Europe and Japan in the summer. Go see them while it's still around

I saw Bootsy on Monday night (6/6/2011) in Boulder, Colorado. This was the best concert of his that I have ever been to. My thrill of the night was when I was able to shake his hand and touch his Traben Space Bass...I even strummed it. Did the same with TM Stevens...and his Warwick. Actually, I shook hands with the entire band that night. Bootsy stepped off the stage; he danced and walk thru the whole theatre (without any security at all), the crowd was fanatic for him...me included. Watching all the love he was getting from the audiences while he was doing this, was incredible. All you can see was his red bandanna(ed) head jumping up and down with everybody in unison, aisle after aisle, section after section. I've never been a part of anything like it before, it was truly the most interactive show I've ever been to.

I was even given Bootsy's personal playlist that was taped to the floor in front of him...it's got his footprints all over it!

Did Sir Purple join the man up on stage?

Owen Riddle? Or Owen Biddle?

On the one hand, I find that disappointing. If Imma go see Bootsy in concert I wanna hear Bootsy slappin' da bass.

On the other hand...TM Stevens and (presumably) Owen Biddle together on the same stage = Mighty Badass.

Bootsy puts on a great show; Not exactly a "bass clinic", but great fun. Years ago he gave me a bit old sweaty hug at a show (when he was walking through the audience, singing wireless) - - He is a *big* dude...

Oh...Bootsy did his thing. Plenty of Bootsy slappin' when I saw him in Boulder, CO. I also enjoyed TM Stevens...he took over during Bootsy's costume changes.

He was wearing about 1" sole/heels shoes (and without his hat) and I was a little taller than him...I was suprised by this. I'm smidge under 6'. I noticed that our hands size were about the same when we shook...but TM Stevens had large hands.

Did I mention it was great show?

Did Bootsy sign autographs after the show? I have a bass that I would love to have him autograph.
