Mark is still da man.

Although the FOH mix wasn't great and the turnout was disappointing, the band still put on their typical powerhouse performance. I hope they come back again next year.

Nice! You must be in Europe somewhere? I didn't think they'd be over the pond again.

aha! ...I spoke to soon. Nice gig for you. Are they here for a few big shows only? I can't imagine they could afford to tour the U.S. like the old days.

This year is their big 30th anniversary tour, so they managed to finally convince some American promoters to book a few shows here. It seems questionable whether they will be able to come back again, but at the end of the show last night, Mark said "see you next year"....

Saw them Sunday night in Pittsburgh, PA. Great show! Too bad I had to wait 24 years since the last time they were in the States.

Mark King is one of my top three favorite bass players along with Jaco and Jamerson. Level 42 has always been such an incredibly talented band a terribly under rated and under promoted in the US!

Dammit. I knew I was going to miss this. They played the 29th at Belly Up in Solana Beach.

Last time I saw them was in Hollywood, 1988.

Did Mark have the LEDs on his bass?

You could still catch them on Saturday at Club Nokia in LA. And yes, of course Mark's bass is lit up like a Christmas tree -- gaudier than ever!!!

I just saw them tonite in SF, and I agree, the mix was not great, but the band played really well.
And he definitely inspired me to work on slap again - I really put it aside for a long time, but it can be fun for sure.

Well, if it's tonight, I'm not there.

The tour that I last saw, the guitar player was ill - he had anxiety disorder, which I have - nothing to sneeze about. He also was hypoglycemic. But I always loved how they started with Thunderbirds and there were people in the crowd with their whistles... lol!

Just a quick update on the show:

Fantastic is all I can say! Mark is still the man & delivered the goods. The whole band was excellent as well. He played 2 different Status Kingbass models both had the LED fret markers. His rig was 2 Ashdown 4x10's, 2 of his signature Ashdown heads, one red & one gold, a Markbass head & some effects I couldn't see, sounded line a flange/envelope filter he kicked in during his solo. Show was 1 1/2 hours and had a decent crowd probably around 400 people. He said they would be back next year. Hope so I don't want to wait another 24 years to see them again!

I didn't know they were still around... Man, Mark King was *the guy* what - about 20 years ago? I guess he can still bring it -- good on him!

For sheer musical talent, Level 42 is right up there with the best of them. One of my favorite bands.
