Finally getting around to post about it. It was great to see that many people come out to see them!! It was a Thursday night at a club in LA. I don't know how people were there but I'm used to going to shows wear there are maybe 100 people there(and most of the crowd are probably musicians . I guess there were probably 300-400 people there. And they were playing House of Blues the next night.
It was a great show! I have to admit I wasn't too dissappointed when Wood broke a string on the violin bass. Don't get me wrong, it was totally the right vibe for the tune they were playing, but I was ready for some more P(I am a recent P/J convert)!! |

Nevertheless, I have yet to hear of anyone not having a blast at one of their shows. |

| | | Yeah, there were a few subtle tempo changes that were just so locked in that I had to confirm with my friend that they actually happened! Quote:

They draw about 1000 on average here, also with lots of 'jam band' crowd crossover.

Price might be a lil' high to see them open, but seeing them even play an hour at Red Rocks would be pretty great.

MMW transcends the jam band scene! These guys live in the jazz world as far as I am concerned.

They are musicians and creators first, which frankly is not the case with a lot of jambands.

Their early stuff is straight jazz, and they've gradually evolved. Hippies adopted them. What are they gonna do?
I was into the whole Phish/moe. scene for a few years in college, and can't stand that stuff now. MMW is waaaaaaaaaay different. |

I'm still bummed about it as I've been a MMW fan since about '96 and that *would've* been my first time to see them live. Oh well, next time. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
