I Went to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones last night in Edmonton. What a great show. Victor is everything live that you see on video. I'm still in shock.

I bought a copy of his book last week (The Music Lesson) and brought it along to get it signed. (Something I NEVER do) I just really wanted to say hi and let him know how much we loved the show.

there is a chance he will be back for the Edmonton Folk Festival so I will be keeping an eye out for that for sure.

It is just incredible to admire someone so much and have them live up to Exceed every bit of expectation a delusional guy like me might have.

And he just seemed really happy to be there. If it is even possible, I am a bigger fan today than I was before.

Awesome. I've seen the Flecktones (& Vic's solo group) a few times and they always deliver. I was able to get a picture with him a few years back. After the crowd had mostly exited the venue, the whole band came out and sat on the edge of the stage signing autographs and chatting with the people that stuck around. I have tons of respect for those guys.

That's really cool man, I loved the book! I'd love to see him live someday, but I've yet to have the opportunity.

I've been listening to his Music Lesson audio book. More than a few eye opening revelations in there.

I can't believe I didn't hear anything about him being in Edmonton. Folk Fest would be awesome though!

Do so. He is a genuinely good human being. Some folks thought he was "pompous" ( notmy word) at the "lesson" he gave before a local concertt a few years ago, but it wasnt being pompous, they just weren't used to a hip dude of color being VERY disciplined and VERY serious during a lesson. Like a "bass nazi".

IMHO, hes the best there is. Most importantly, I'll never be able to play like Vic, and maybe dont wnat to play like him, but he has opened up a world to me that was hidden.

One helluva lesson!

Hey SchecterLover, they still throw kids like me outta perfectly good airplanes down at Benning? Only good one is the night one you cant see!

Peace all!

Real great guy, real great mind, real great performer. And to my tastes, seeing him live or hearing him recorded in the context of the Flecktones is the best possible way to find this out.

I'll just +1 these posts... too early in the morning for me to be more coherent than that.

Vic is a great man and musician for sure. I've seen him several times and like was said earlier, he's a very nice guy when you get to meet him. Anyone who says otherwise has obviously not met the guy.

Seeing Victor in concert is always great. In the last couple of years I have seen him perform many many times (at his camps, with Jd Blair, with Victor Wooten Band, Flecktones, SMV) and he never fails to inspire me.

I met Victor at Summer NAMM 2010 in Nashville. Great guy and an inspired player. The session was a clinic in which he took questions from the audience and wound up calling up my friend to play bass on the spur of the moment. The friend -- keyboardist/bassist James Rushin, 21 -- did well. So well, in fact, that Victor said all the criticisms he was ready to roll out couldn't be used. It was about playing without thinking -- just letting it go. James did himself proud. Victor was accessible and funny -- even hung around after although it was Father's Day and his family was with him.

Jeeze, this week I just HAVE to see Mike Stern, Anthony Jackson, Dennis Chambers and Randy Brecker at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood and the week after The Flecktones will play The Orpheum Theatre. :O

I don't even want to look at who'll be playing The Baked Potato.

I love Wooten's concept about turning a mistake into something you meant to do!

Something's wrong with my browser or something. I keep seeing VOCTOR. Gotta say it's cringe-worthy. Got to go to the computer DOCTOR to get rid of VOCTOR. Been voctorized. Is there really a voctor in the house?

Saw the Flecktones tonight. Victor/Voctor was, not surprisingly, amazing.
ALL those cats were amazing. Howard Levy (original Flecktones) on harmonica in place of Jeff Coffin.
Each of them is incredibly innovative and original, yet it was all about listening to and playing with each other. The Tuvan throat singers were also outstanding and ear-opening.
Even as a musician, sometimes I am blown away at how much music can move people. I really felt that way tonight.
