Is any one here hip to the old Jazz fusion band Seawind from the late 70's? I haven't seen any threads on them. I dug up an old CASSETTE tape yesterday, Don't have the CD's and refreshed my memory on some really sweet bass playing with what is obviously a 70's Jazz. I did some checking around the net, the Old CD's have been reissued, but their MIJ imports and not cheap. Ken is still doing some recording with his brother in a band called the Wild Brothers. Seawind was a subtile (crossover) Christian Band and their Horn section is probably in the same class as the Memphis horns and a notch below TOP as an "in-demand" horn section. Jerry Hey and the boys still get a ton of studio horn work with top acts. But Wild ripped on those Albums, both on frettless and fretted.

Seawind wasn't the original name of the band I think it was Ox. Other than the Jerry Hey and the horns I wondered what happend to the rest of the band. |

I used to have one of their records, but like a number of other LPs I had at one point, it seems to have snuck away when I wasn't looking. Ken Wild was good (no doubt still is), and you're right, they did have Jerry Hey.

| | | Pauline Wilson, the vocalist, is still performing in Hawai'i(where the band originated) and I think Larry Williams may still be over there.I last saw Kenny Wild playing with Emil Richards in the mid 90's at Chadney's in Burbank,CA.
Here's the reunion info: http://www.seawindjazz.com/NEWS.HTM http://www.seawindjazz.com/BAND.HTM

on more movies, TV shows and CD's than you can shake
a stick at. Plus a rather nifty golfer too. He's remained
one of the nicer guys on the scene. |

Their musicianship was apparent even back in the seventies, and the music still sounds pretty good to me, despite the sound quality of the recordings. |
