Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz - Rashanim

I have two Rashanim albums featuring bassist Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz that I've been very obsessed with lately.

Masada Rock - Zorn/Masada Compositions performed by Rashanim
Shalosh - Rashanim

I'm not sure to what degree Shanir is involved with writing the music on these albums, but his playing is mesmerizing!!

I've only found a couple of references to this guy on TB, and was just wondering if anyone else here is as into this stuff as me. Can anyone share their experience seeing Rashanim live? Heres some places you can check out audio/video of Rashanim:

Just downloaded their 2003 release self titled from Amazon. He seems to be using more ERB and fretless on this one. Good thing these guys don't have a dozen albums, I'd be broke!!

No one? Well then.... Talkbass, consider this your home work. Seek out this musician, seek out this music. You might just dig it a lot.

Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz is amazing bassist. Ive been a pretty big Tzadik fan for awhile and started finding more artists and I was blown away when I heard Rashanim. Great power trio . I love the guitarist's tone . All three musicians are great. Shanir plays some amazing runs and quickly starts groovin again.

Its weird. I'm completely ignorant to Jewish culture, yet I find this music fascinating.

Ive been thinking the same thing. I love all the Jewish music but have no idea of the culture. There is also alot of Middle Eastern/Arabic influences in it also that I find fantastic.

He mainly play a sunburst Fender P with maple neck but Ive seen pictures of him playing a Marcus Miller and on Rashanim's myspace there are some pictures of him playing what looks like a bass version of a tele' ...interesting. Anyone know what it is?
