How do you do it?

Mostly at clubs around DC (for example I got Jaco at Blues Alley in the early '80s, Levin and Rocco at Jacks, Miller and Johnson at The Birchmere, Gradney at The Rams Head, Bootsey and Bruce at the 9:30).

I got Entwistle at an signing where he was selling his art. I got a bunch at Bass Boot Camp (Wooten, Willis, Bailey, Manring, Veasley, Bromberg) or BX3 (Berlin, Hamm, Sheehan).

Cool, where did you get Jack Bruce's (just interested as he's my favorite bassist)?

I got him many years ago at the 9:30 club in DC (although it might have been the Bayou, I saw him a few times).

Here is an Aria Pro II Integra I got signed by Jason Newsted in 1998. I carried the body of the bass in a backpack for several hours the day of a show in Portland, OR. Since I helped the Metallica Club out that day I was able to get it (and my recorder ) past security without being hassled. Sorry the bass was so dusty when I took this pic! That's a "98" above the switch there...

Yeah, it was cool that Jason took the time to draw the logo and all that, instead of just a simple sig. This was a backstage meet-n-greet and there were a lot of other people waiting, so he could have easily just signed "Jason" and have been done with it...The little ">>>>"'s at the end, are an added bonus. hehe.
I remember him saying "I'll sign it here so you can look at it while you're playing..."...Of course I never play that bass so I don't wipe off the signature accidently.
