I happened to catch "Showtime at the Apollo" the other night, the syndicated variety show on NBC, the current version. hosted by Mo'nique.
If you've seen the show,the "Amateurs" segment features a backing band that smokes! Most of the singers are less than stellar, but the band does some great arrangements.
The bassist in particular, sounded fantastic last night- Amazing tone, totally in-the-pocket, great job anchoring the small band, essentially a rhythm section. A real pro; playing beautifully fluid lines.
The credits rolled by a little too quick for me to catch his name---Anyone know who this player is?? Thanks for the holler if you do, if you don't, you might want to check him out!
