Everything Willie Weeks plays on the classic Donny Hathaway Live album from 1972. But let's start with this:
YouTube - Donny H@thaway - The Ghetto (Live)
Cheers!

Anything by Pleasure w/ Nathaniel Phillips on bass. Very underrated. Listening to his lines makes you realize where guys like Paul Turner and Stuart Zender are coming from. He's one of their main influences.

Amen to that. Those fellows are from here. We are all very proud. He was a friend of my Dad's.

Nathaniel is a very under rated player in my book. He played some of the grooviest bass lines ever.

Most of Les Pattinsons work with Echo and the Bunnymen highly overlooked.
'Crocodiles' in particular is a great little line that requires no small amount of skill to nail without fudging any notes. An unusual, highly strung (a la Sheehan) stance with a rapid upward picking action....well worth checking out.

Pops Popwell certainly could pop well! I always think that anybody who could play bass for Wilton Felder must be sick (skillwise) because we all know what a session monster Wilton Felder has been on bass!

Yeah, I chopped up my P bass and went fretless 'cause of Alphonso Johnson, before Jaco.

Hip Pockets

Saw them, Billy Cobham George Duke Band, at the Paramount Theatre Portland, back in da day. Then saw Billy and Alphonso with Bob Weir, Bobby and the Midnites at Euphoria tavern.

Yeah that Alphonso turned my head around...
