Simple and Great Basslines

Sign in to disble this ad
To the opposite end of the bass solos being discussed in another thread, what about simple and great basslines? Here's a clip of Sheryl Crow with Eric Clapton playing her "My Favorite Mistake":

IMO, this is a simple and great bassline. I love the fat tone she gets from the Ray. By the way, how petite is Sheryl? That Ray looks massive on her!

What are some other basslines that fit in this category?

Hall & Oates 'ManEater'. Simple, repetitive, but with great tone & feel. It makes the song.

I don't know if this qualifies as simple (rhythmically), but it's only four notes (verse and chorus are at least).

Well, you know the old saying:- even the most average sized thing looks bigger when held by somebody with small hands!

Thanks for the video. This is the BEST kind of bass line. Simple, holding the bottom securely with a little tasteful lick here and there.

VERY nice.

It doesn't get more simple and great than Under Pressure by Queen.

John Mayer-Vultures

Nice simple, solid, groovy bassline. Can't really ask for more.
