Type in "bassisti slap" on Youtube

You're probably right? He's mostly show and no originality, but I'd be content to EVEN achieve his Level 1 in my lifetime. Although, I'm guessing that with that speed he probably went to the "crossroads" and made a deal?

Oh! I know who your talking about. If your on youtube enough your bound to bump into him. He has a 6 string (ugly bass in my opion). Yeah he has alot of technique. He has done a couple of shows as far as I've seen on youtube. He's good. as far as being original? How could some one be original. If you two hand tap- its either Vic or Claypool. Fingerstyle or pick. Hi - mids or all bass on the EQ. Point is your going to always sound like someone. Original is the mixing of genre. I guess.

Unless this dude is backed by a record label. He won't be the next Vic Woo.

Yeah, Wooten and that Italian guy both have lots of skill, but that doesn't always mean that there is much listening pleasure to be had when listening to them.

Fieldy is a genius! Who else could tune their bass so low that you can't tell what note they are playing, never play above the 2nd fret and make a ton of money? This guy is laughing all the way to the bank.

Gianni

Gianni is not only a good slapper but he has a lot of various skills. Look at his different videos: you'll see blues on fretless, classical tunes, funk impro, sight reading session. This guy is a real session man.

Many people don't like fast slap, I think these are just demos of his skills for his business. Personally, I tend to think he is as talented as Victor, even if he is maybe less groovy.

I better know Victor than Gianni, but I think both are geniuses and we can learn from them.
