So I just saw Vic Wooten and Stanley Clarke..

Oh man ... it was incredible. Got a CD signed by Victor and let him know how much those groove workshop DVDs changed my life as a musician. He was very pleased!

I was disappointed how few people were there.. Then again, Stanley and Vic are a bit of an esoteric taste. Oklahoma isn't exactly brimming with bassists either.

Stanley Clarke's double bass work was phenomenal. I was definitely not expecting that one. Man...

The 'rock music school' up here, ACM, got to meet these guys and take a few lessons from them first hand. That was one of those times that I wish I had chosen to go with my heart instead of my brain.. I'm going into physical therapy for the job security and I love helping people get better. Plus I didn't wanna make my favorite pass-time my job and risk screwing it up.

That being said... after hearing some of those ACM kids play, They're lucky I chose PT, don't wanna embarrass anyone ya know Kidding of course. Just a tinge of jealousy on my part.

Very cool, would have loved to have been there. I loved the groove workshop dvd as well, it wasn't just about chops. Very neat that you met Victor too, he's really down to Earth.

I recorded Stanley's entire unaccompanied upright solo with my phone. I was not very close but the audio is actually pretty good. I gotta figure out how to post it.

They played Dallas tonight and both sets were killin'.

Vic played "Love Rollercoaster" featuring Reggie and they did a really tight version of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back". You KNOW the crowd was going wild. Vic also played about 15 minutes of old school solo bass stuff from Show of Hands which was soo tight.

Stanley's set was EPIC all around. His guitar player and keyboard soloist (he has two keys players) were straight up ridiculously nasty...and the drummer was so over the top....j3sus Chr!st man. Def. worth the coin.
