So I met Lee Sklar yesterday at Moondance Jam

Long story-

So I was introduced to this set of twins a few weeks back. We jammed out and they were some amazing people. Well I was invited to go to Moondance Jam with them. They said that they were good friends with the bands REO Speedwagon and Toto. I was invited to go to the Toto show. Of course I accepted the invitation. Toto's origional bassist-Mike Porcaro- had injured his hand, so Leeland Sklar has been filling in for him this past tour.

So yesterday we are getting ready to take the 4 hour drive to go see the show in Walker, MN. We make our drive and go to the will call booth because thats where we were told that our tickets and backstage passes would be...they weren't. So we sat outside the booth for about 2 hours waiting for them to "show up"...well tickets cost 70$ a piece. So I gave the two girls the money so they could go buy the tickets and see the band. RIGHT after they had left, the lady comes out of will call saying that she just checked her email and our tickets were there. So we got into the show and it FLIPPEN ROCKED, we made it to the 2nd row right in front of Lee! He seen us..well the girls and smiled at us. Pretty much the whole band at one time or another had looked at us and aknowleged us. Well after the show, things started looking better, there was a meet and greet to see the band, and once Sonny*the bands manager* had seen us we got to go in and talk to them a bit, the other fans looked VERY jealous. After the meet and greet we hung out with the band talked joked around took pictures and got to go the the "VIP" area with Lee and watch The Moody Blues play. It turned out to be a very great night, that just had a rough start. The whole band told us that we would get our 140$ refunded and that they would make sure that it NEVER happend again!

Lee, if you read this, thanks for the great night! Was a pleasure to meet you!

David Hungate

David Hungate was the orignal bassist for Toto whom Mike Porcaro replaced. Hungate quit the band in 1982 at the peak of their sucess to become a Nashville session player so he could spend more time with his family.

Lee is one of my favorite Bass players and one of the best I have ever heard. I have spoken to him a few times in the last 30+ years and he is not only immensely talented but a really nice guy as well.

George

Sounds like a great time! Were the twins hot? LOL.

One of my buddies has spent some time in the studio with Mr. Sklar, since his dad was/is one of the singers in The Seldom Scene. Anyways, I hear he is a wonderful person on top of being a true bass player, in every sense of the word.

Did you warn him that Sauron's forces are moving from the East?

Does that guy EVER stop working? Just the other day I had read that Leland Sklar is the bassist on Billy Bob Thornton's new album that comes out next week.
