Hey I spend some time between LA, San Diego, and thereabouts.
Where is/who is bringing the live dub and reggae in these parts?(with live bass/bands--not necessarily sound systems without live bass, but I like dat too . . .)
Any particular bands or club nights to look for?

I play dub. We're a dub rhythm section. Me on bass (Down) our drummer (Dirty) and we have a live mixer/DJ (Dub). Each show we have different musicians sit in with us and play on top. Down and Dirty Dub is playing April 5th @ Fitzgeralds in Huntington Beach. [/gig spam].

Other local reggae acts to check out. One that I've recently got into is The Lions. I don't know much about them except their label is out of San Diego. They are ripping players and have put out some great material. We are no where near where they are.

I went to a Fishbone show the other night in Hollywood. They were incredible as usual. The band that opened for them is called Rebelution and they play a poppy kind of reggae that really went over well live. They have a great following around here as well. The place was packed and it seemed most people knew all their lyrics.

Very cool bass player too. He was playing a headless bass and had a strong pocket going throughout the show. They play all over SoCal.
