Solo Bass (i.e. BASS ONLY -- NO DRUMS, ETC.) Albums?

Sign in to disble this ad
Other than Manring, Lawson, and Squarepusher (yes he does have a solo bass album), what are some good examples of solo bass albums?

(By "solo bass" I mean entire albums where the only instrumentation is bass.)

Recommendations?

I think the only album of purely solo bass is "Soliloquy" by Manring, and what an album it is! Michaels a true inspiration! I'm in the process of recording one myself, however it will utilise a loop station so much bassness awaits!

This is INDEED an amazing display of an all-bass album.

I enjoy Manring's CDs when it comes to solo bass. Wooten playing is great, but it's not my favorite flavor, and much of it isn't solo bass.

That's definately one i'm gonna get my hands on. I've seen some live stuff, need to hear the rest. Michaels album with Cyril Achard "A Place in Time" is a must for any bass player too i feel.

Miroslav!

Miroslav Vitous - Emergence

this album's crazy beautiful, lots of great bowing thrown in too. I usually don't like whole albums of solo bass but this one is one of my favorites...
