Solo bass + voice?

Sign in to disble this ad
I can't find too many people who want to play what I do, so i'm starting to think about doing a few solo gigs. I'm looking for some inspiration. Anyone know of a few bassists who play and sing without accompaniment?

All I can find is thousands of guitarists...

well, i know its not the exact same, but Steve Lawson does a duet with a singer who sings standards to Steve's bass-only accompaniment

http://www.myspace.com/mckeeandlawson

and i believe Todd Johnson has done similar projects

What about Sting and Mark King?
They both do great things in
music...
Regards
Pat

P.S. I have very interesting recording, made by Riccardo Del Fra with french vocalist Annie Ebrel "Velutto di Luna". They play original music from Bretagne, with all intonation nuances, scales etc.
Really wonderful thing, but not solo...

Try searching the YouTube thread. I saw one guy on there that really impressed me......if I wasn't so senile, I would have remembered his name.

+1

On a side note, whenever I have seen Melissa auf Der Maur live, she always does a particular song with just her bass for accompaniment. Can't remember the one but she pulled it off, it was beautiful.

My teacher has been doing the duett thing with this singer for some time they did an album called MoR Duran, a duran duran tribute type thing with only bass and vocals. Pretty sweet stuff
