Solo Bassists

Solo bass players. Not those that take solos or those that are so heavily jazz influenced and melodic that they can entertain via instrument alone but instead those that use it much in the same way as many people use acoustic guitars. I really like the idea of playing bass, with some rhythmic line behind it, maybe some looped chords and then singing over the top.

Does anyone know of any musicians that do this? I would love to get a rough idea before i pursue this kind of entertainment.

Thanks

Zander Zon's got something going on. I'm not a big fan of tapping and all that, but he uses it so very tastefully and just oozes a sympathy for the music. Brilliant stuff.

I do. I'm always looking for ideas though. I find my sound getting tiring/numbing after awhile.

This guy is great, whoever he is. You will be amazed. Isn't that better than strumming a guitar?

I dont know of any famous solo bass players, that is that focus on song writing/vocals, Most of the suggestions cover just a solo bassist. But are very intriguing none the less
