It's a pleasure to see that clip again. Someone posted it earlier this year. I love it, because the energy level of the performance was so high. It brings back memories. I saw Bootsy open for Parliament-Funkadelic in 1976 (year of the Mothersip Connection) when his first solo album was brand new. His first Space bass had been stolen, and he played a white Fender Jazz. What is striking is that he was not nearly as fluid singing and playing then as he was in that clip, which I assume was filmed much later, after the Bootsy thing had already become nostalgia. It is easy to get caught up in the image, but Bootsy is a heck of a player!

Wow!!! Hiram Bullock on guitars, the keyboard guy had a headless guitar too and Sanborn's got the funk. Great clip, whats not to love about Bootsy? The energy in that clip is uplifting.

What kind of pickups are in his bass there? It's not the multi-J's that I'm used to seeing in the Space Bass....

Very cool. They were really rockin' the go-go beat which I really miss hearing.

Also, Bootsy's finger tone during the solo sections was killer! Very defined and growly. I wish he'd record with that tone.

His tone during the guitar solo is sick. Sounds like he had some kind of octave effect going or something.
