Songs that inspired?

We've all read threads based on bassists that inspired us. I'm curious to hear if some of you were inspired by specific songs, whether it was the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc... I know for me, there were alot of songs I heard as a kid that I recognized then wouldn't have been the same song without the bassline. List the songs that inspired you here.

I got my first bass on Xmas '72...so for me it was Led Zep's "The Lemon Song" & The Who's "The Real Me".

Early Yes, and then early Rush. And then I had to play bass, specically a Ric bass. No regrets. If you want one song, let's say "South Side of the Sky" from the Yes album, "Fragile", or even better ," Heart of the Sunrise". Now that's some bass playing.

I would also say early Rush, though it was very diverse for me. I grew up in the church listening to groups like Andre Crouch and the Disciples which incorpoorated some great bass work, but I also grew up with great R&B and Funk like Earth, Wind and Fire, and I would also mention "Give Up the Funk" by Parliament. Later moved into Jazz listening to Marcus Miller and Nathan East.

Another one Bites the Dust was the first song I ever played. I was a huge Queen fan and this was the bass line that always stood out for me.
