I'm actually just about to start studying Les Claypool. Anybody know a good place to start? I'm looking for a couple songs... not too hard, not too easy.

Oh yeah, and it would be helpful if they were easily translated to a 4 string bass (no Tommy the Cat). Thanks guys.

Tommy the cat actually translates to 4 string just fine.

The first ones I learned were Southbound Pachyderm and American Life. Give those a try.

actually Tommy the Cat was originally done on a 4 string, check out "suck On This" Primus's first album and it's a live one to. I don't understand Study Les but if you want some good tunes in the Claypool style check out Sailing the Seas of Cheese or Frizzle Fry.

Edit easy song: Those Damn Blue Collared Tweakers

Yeah I'm sure it does. The tab I've been finding has been on 6 string.

Yeah pretty much anything on Frizzle Fry is a good place to start.

You only make your first album once.

Too Many Puppies is a good place to start IMO. There are plenty of pauses so you can stop and sing as well.

Another +1 for picking up Suck On This and going from there: you might as well start at the beginning. I'm a fan of the first tune on there; can't recall the title at the moment.

EDIT: (24 hours later) To Defy the Laws of Tradition! Right?
