I think he used this same bass when I saw them back in 1980.
Does anyone remember his name?

What a great bass line (and I love the Nile Rogers-esque guitar) - One of my favourites (from the 80s or any other decade).

"High Hopes" (from III) was another good one (obvious slapped P-bass).

Meanwhile, a 3-DVD "Best Of Soul Train" set is due out 8-31-2010.

+10!!!! This is a reminder that there were so many great bass lines that were played before the 5+ string basses came along!

Very interesting info-I had no idea!!!

Switching gears, does anyone remember this track? The bass player is killing on an Alembic Spoiler or Distillate!

as a white, middle-classed non-urbanite growing up in America, I was absolutely enthralled by Soul Train and watched it ALL the time. I thought the music was absolutely fantastic, even though I found a lot of the dancing & bling a bit cheesy, but fun.

One of the things that used to make me snicker was those afro-sheen ads. But I guess I got my payback, because I probably could do with a similar-but-different product these days and call it "scalp sheen"

Mazarati was BrownMark's band. Remember he was the guy that Prince said was his best bassist ever.

Here he is with that Alembic:http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=JEw6...eature=related
