so i have always been a p-bass kinda guy but while looking for a bass i found this very special fender standard MIM jazz bass that's won my heart, mostly because of how well it feels in my hands, but now the sound is starting to grow on me. i can get some really great soul/r&b non-slap pop & funk tones out of it with my mxr di that come close to sounding like a p-bass while retaining its own identity all together.
so...
this got me to wondering if there were any big examples of bassist that played soul/r&b and non slap and pop funk on that would normally be attributed to a bassist on a p-bass, but on a jazz bass.
the fabulous webernet only returns p-bassist.
i was hoping i could draw from the knowledge of members here.
anyone have a few names for me?
thanks in advance to any and all who respond.

Do you mean the song they stole from Howlin' Wolf?
The one he had to sue them (and win) over to get his rights?
That's 12 bar blues anyway.....

I've never seen any photos nor read any interviews where he's ever mentioned a Jazz Bass.
