Talking Spinal Tap

Anybody just watch Spinal Tap unplugged on Jay Leno? I always thought the bass player was the funniest member of the band and until tonight did not realize he could actually play. I loved how big the bass looked on him. What did everybody else think?

I'm not totally sure about Chris Guest, but both Harry Shearer and Michael McKean really did/do play.

I enjoyed the appearance on Leno, too.

Yes, Harry Shearer ("Derek Smalls") can play.

I think this has been posted on TB before ,"Christmas with the Devil".

They all play, and well. I saw them at Carnegie Hall a few years ago and it was amazing. They opened for themselves as the Folksmen too (this was before a Mighty Wind was out).

I was surprised when I found out that he could play too.

Derek Smalls is one of my favorite bassists. The double neck bass he plays in the movie is pretty much my dream bass.

Didn't surprise me.... one of the reasons they did Spinal Tap in the first place was because they wanted to have a band.

Shame about the drummer, though.

And the other drummer.

And the other other drummer....

And the drummer after that.....

Weren't all the drummers nicknamed "Stumpy" something-or-another?

"He spontaneously combusted on stage. It was just a flash of green light..."

I might pick up some flak for asking this.... but anyone know where to stream this movie? I have been meaning to watch this for awhile now but I can't rent it seeing as I have no way to play the dvd's over here (different region). I hear about this movie continuously and I'm dying to see it.

Hey, Big Bottom's got me outta my mind. C'mon noone has shown more love to the bass than Spinal Tap. Every bass player needs to have seen this performance:

heres the drummers from the movie from wikipedia:

John "Stumpy" Pepys (1964–1967) Died in a bizarre, unexplained gardening accident
Eric "Stumpy Joe" Childs (1967–1974) Choked on vomit of unknown origin
Peter "James" Bond (1974–1977) Spontaneously combusted onstage
Mick Shrimpton (R. J. "Ric" Parnell) (1977–1982) Onstage explosion
Joe "Mama" Besser

favorite quote when their at the hotel and spinal tap's manager's talking to the clerk:

Tap's manager: how do we get 14 people in a king leisure bed?
clerk: oh don't tempt me sir.
