Are those signature shoes?

I get my cables, strings, and clothing for free. As for the basses and amps, I pay a lesser price, but nothing is free, unless it's a sig model.

I disagree with the analogy, only because the cereal isn't customized for each endorser. It's always still plain old Wheaties inside. But if you'd have said "basketball shoes" or "baseball gloves" instead of cereal boxes, I'd agree with you.

Reminds me of the time when Charles Barkley was doing Hyundai commercials. When it aired, my brother turns to me and goes, "Yeah, okay Charles. Sure you drive a Hyundai."

Frankly I don`t see the problem with an artist endorsing a brand even if it`s not their main axe (amp, shoes, car, etc..) It seems to me that it`s just part of the game.
When you try to make a living playing music any money is good money, just as anything free (or discounted) is good.
and for the record, if my day job was backing up Hillary Duff, or anyone else I would be stoked because at night I could still write and play my own stuff and not worry about having to pay the bills. Besides I`m sure whoever the bassist is that tours with H.D. is a session dude that needed to make his (or her) car payments. It`s just a job, but at least you`re playing right?
ahhh, maybe I am a bit of a whore....

AMEN! I tell my friends, peers, and students that i would prefer play music i dislike and have a bass in hand rather than be washing dishes for less money

you get more hours on your instrument too!
