Stan the Man...yes. I haven't had a chance to see him live since the Return to Forever reunion back in '82. but I still remember how awe struck I was watching his performance!

I do notice in the pic's he is now using Ampeg amps. I recall him using alembic equipment back then.

Great pic's, thanks for sharing!

You're welcome guys.

Stanley's still using the Alembic pre-amps, but now runs his stuff through SWR and Ampeg gear.

Stanley was actually the last act on for the night, he played for just over an hour, but the songs were pretty lengthened. I guess it's because of local noise ordinances, there's a lot of houses around Piedmont Park.

lol that reminds me of a simpsons episode where they were showing an ad for a jazz benefit and they said something along the lines of "a full day of music--two songs!"

I saw him back in the early 90's at Bogarts in Cincinnati. Great show. Still hard to believe how fast he can play that Stand Up. DAMN

I do love Stanley Clark, but as a St. Louisan, I have to take exception.

There's only one "Stan The Man:"

a yahoo search of "stan the man" reveals:

stan musial owns the website stan-the-man.com . it also reveals:

stan "the man" lee -comic book writer
stan "the man" jacobs - singer from philly
stan "the man" longinidis - k1 fighter from australia
Stan the Man - BOHEMIAN BLUES BAND
Stan the Man - dj from england
DJ Stan da Man - another dj from england
Stan "The Man" Martyniouk - boxer from sacremento
Stan "The Man" Griffin - singer from minnesota
Stan the Hot-Water Man - repairman from portland

so there are actually 9 stan the mans, 10 if you count Stan the Hot-Water Man. sorry but stanley clarke isn't one of them, although vic wooten and steve bailey did name a song "stan the man" in his honor.

however, stan musial is the #1 stan the man and always will be.

I have to agree.

When I visited St. Louis years ago as a kid to attend a ball game, I bought a copy of "Stan the Man's Hit Record", an LP of hitting tips for young players from one of the greatest hitters of all time. Can you imagine such a thing on LP? And it was a big seller, the staff told me, if you can believe that.

He was something else.

Shame I had to miss SC--after attending the Braves' game, I was so sunburned I had to call it a day.
