| Great player, but few of his albums as a leader have aged well. He tries too hard to fit in with current R&B trends, which makes anything older than five years sound horribly dated. For laughs, check out "Time Exposure" and "Clarke/Duke Project II." Hint: "Thriller" was hot then.
"The Rite of Strings" is probably an exception. I'd like to hear him do more straightahead jazz. |
