saw it on the cover of bass player when i was at a bass lesson the other day.
haven't seen it, but it kinda of disgusted me.. its just the G3 of bass players.. and I really don't like when a group of virtuosos just get together to show off... i can't take it seriously... nobody try to convince me that these guys are coming together and creating beautiful music, because that really just is not the case with these things...

just my opinion, kudos to anybody who enjoys this stuff. does nothing for me.

Need to get my hands on a sound clip or something

There's a time and a place for everything. If you're looking for the most artistic evening of moving music, then no, this tour would not be for you.

But every once in a while it's just FUN to see some absolute monsters tear it up for the sake of tearing it up. Kind of like seeing a monster truck rally. It's not an evening at the ballet, but it will certainly be exciting and enjoyable!

I think it's going to be great I have ordered a ticket to their concert in Oslo, Norway in september, so it better be good! Marcus was here last october, and at least he was great on his own...
Norway may not really seem like a place for good concerts, but I'm going to SMV, Stevie Wonder, George Clinton and Mezzoforte the same month :O And T.O.P has already been here this year. Life's good!

+1 Do you think every piece of music ever written was in the quest to create the perfect song for the ages?? Music is supposed to be fun if nothing else. Everything isn't a mile deep... thank God!

Nokia, NYC show 8/23

I have tickets and will be at this show. Pre-ordered my CD today and from the way Bassplayer reviewed what they heard so far, it sounds like this CD has some very "deep" music , so I don't think it's going to be a strictly "chopfest" type of show. I haven't seen Vic or Marcus live but I've had the chance to see Stanley at the BlueNote in NYC and it was some of the most moving music I've ever seen performed live. I'd say if you have the chance to see it just do it, even if it's not "your thing" when 3 virtuoso players are onstage together I think we are all going to be surprised at what these 3 guys pull off !!

Anyone else have tickets to this show ?? Let's get a few TB'ers together to watch this show together.

There are a couple of threads about this, and I already posted in one, however, just to say it again...

I downloaded the album from Amazon this morning (DRM-free, 256kbps MP3) and I've listened through it in it's entirety once.

I think it is safe to say that is not at all a bass heroes, show-off type album. The songs are well done and the album is well thought out as a whole as well. After one go-round I find that I like a couple of songs more than others, naturally, but I definitely think it is worth it.

Personally, I am more a fan of Marcus than of the collaboration, however, if you like any or all of these musicians, I don't think you'd be disappointed with SMV and Thunder.

I plan to see them on August 17th and am looking forward to it even more now that I've heard the album.
