Stanley Clark & Gregory Hines (Video)

I know that a lot of us are familar with the track, "If this bass could only talk" which was a duet between Stanley and Gregory Hines.

They actually performed this live on the Arsenio Hall show years ago. I remember seeing it and was blown away but I'd never been able to find the video.

Well, through the magic of YouTube, here it is!

It's definitely worth checking out!

Cool video. That track is such a neat way to start off an album. Thanks for posting it.

That is unbelievably cool. I never knew he had played it live! A very cool track, no doubt, but even better imo is "Bassically Taps", the song they play in the second half of the video. Man, I I really learned a lot from that track when I learned it! Thanks for sharing!

I want to thank you for finding this.

In the Spring of 1989, I had been playing bass for only a couple of months. My friend who is now a smokin' jazz keyboardist had got me "If This Bass Could Only Talk" for a Christmas gift and I listened to it a lot. That same friend and I had gone to see "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" on a Friday night (opening weekend) and when I got home, I caught the very end of this performance. I never thought I would see it again.

You've got to love YouTube!

WOW WOW WOW!!!! This is really cool. I like how about midway through, when the music kind of came to a lull, you could see Arsenio start to walk towards the stage and it looks like Gregory kinda waved him off like, "We're just getting started!"

Classic

Nice interview. That's one reason I really like Stanley Clarke. He seems to be very humble.
