I remember seeing Stanley for he first time on PBS ,it was a "jazz greats concert" with Al DiMiola, Jon Luc Ponty and a few other amazing players. He blew me away,I never knew a bass could be played that way. He does it all as well. I like " If this Bass could talk" the live CD is so so IMO.

I got to meet Stanley and hear him for the first time last
weekend in San Diego. I was out there doing a gig and he was
on the bill also. Beautiful day, on the water, jazz festival, it
was PERFECT!
Stanley is great! Nice man and TALL!!! After the 20+ years I've
been playing and listening to him on record, I finally got to
see him live! He sounded great! Jimmy Earl was playing bass
behind him.
VERY COOL!!!!

No one has mentioned the Rite of Strings project w/ Al and Jean-Luc Ponty...... saw the show at the Paramount in Denver..... unreal.
