I saw Steely Dan in concert last night; the best sounding concert I have ever been to, literally CD quality sound. Freddie Washington on bass grooved his butt off on an old P bass. Keith Carlock on drums is downright frightening he is so good, reminded me Vinnie Coliuta. Two killer background vocalists that were so good Fagen let them lead on a couple of tunes.

| | | | +1 I saw that same band when Fagan did a solo gig at the Opera House in Detroit a while back. Wonderful sounding stuff.
I actually greatly prefer their original touring bassist (Tom Barney). Much better tone (more appropriate to the material). Freddie played great but sounded like mush to me in the mix. |

When he had a little solo I thought he sounded muddy but inside the mix he sounded really good.

$120.00 to sit in the 10th row (slightly stage right)...
New sound man that night we were told. |

New sound man that night we were told. | That's a big reason why I haven't been to a concert in years...my $ is better spent on albums.

New sound man that night we were told. | That is the one thing I was concerned about; paying big bucks for tickets and being disappointed by the sound quality. I noticed right away when they started that the volume was very moderate for a larger concert. I don't know if it was the venue or that they just got he sound together after so many concerts.
