That is the tone that pushed me into warwicks. I still don't know why he switched to the Fleas. Not that they aren't good, but that warwick tone worked so well for the band.

Every time I saw them play that live he used a Warwick Thumb 6, but my corvette 5 gets me plenty close.

he used to use both warwick and modulus, he had the thumb6 a dolphin 4 and a quantum 5....im pretty sure the tone that you are referrign to on the cds was his warwick tone...."crush" and "stay" are god examples of the thumb 6's tone....growly as hell! i know when i saw them live back then he used to the quantum for repunzle....not sure about the recording though. i love that tone too, btu the playability of warwick basses has always annoyed me, the slow necks, bell brass frets and beeswax stickiness....yuck.

On the Live at Central Park DVD he's using Ampeg cabinets.

For a while at live gigs he used a double stack of Trace Elliots then switched to Meyer Sound self powered cabs. Now it's the Ampeg SVT's and the Flea bass.
