Nope its just the same live! Its because he uses so much compression in hes rig that it just looses it live! But its magic in the studio!

This bassist is one of the few I'm not able to say anything on.

I.e.: I bought a DMB cd under Bass player advice , average for my taste and I sold it a month later.

Well I heard that CD a dozen times and seemed without bass player at all. He didn't leave me anything. Perhaps I lost a lot.

He sounds so shy ...

I'm with Analogkid. Matthews' voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.

...I've grown weary of Dave's voice, too(gosh, I hate it when fans refer to DMB as "Dave"!)
I'm only in it for the rhythm section(mostly 'cause I used to see Beauford goin' ballastic around here in clubs)...
I will say, at the very least, DMB does stretch out LIVE & doesn't stick to playin' it like the record.
