I've lived in some really crappy places over the years and the place we're moving to is HUGE. Like, 4 bedrooms and lots of space and stuff. But... we have 2 foster daughters and a sister in law with a newborn who's going to help us with rent. I'm trying not to sound selfish here but I've basically been screwed the past 2 houses we've lived in so I want to make it clear before the one room I'm eyeing up for my music stuff turns into a playroom whenever they have plenty of room for that in their room/living room =p.
Our last house at least had a basement that I could turn into a semi-man hovel. I won't call it a cave because it had piles and piles of stuff in it I didn't want in there but had to deal with. This new place doesn't have a basement and right now I can't see a feasable place to have a practice space that won't annoy someone in one way or another.

Spent the next day on the couch watching tv all day with the gf. Hung over, but whatever that happens more often than I'd like anyways.

I know everyone has different things. Good luck.
Booze at home. Nothing crazy. And...no work today for me.

You are going to need an amp with headphones, me thinks.

On a lighter note. I am pretty excited to be practicing in this church, I can't wait to check out the set up. And play loud again!

They had a drum kit set up in the sanctuary. When no one was around I'd sit down and play. The acoustics were insane. Huge, HUGE sound from the natural properties of the room. Not ideal for a full band, but it was fun. |

I have an amp I can plug headphones in... she asked me why I don't use it. I can't put headphones on longer than 5 minutes before being told "get those things off your head". Blah . It's funny too, not just ragging on her, she's super supportive of me playing it seems until I actually have to do anything that interferes with our time. I'm happy with that... but I still need to practice... we'll figure it out. There's lots of closets there... If you need me I'll be drunk with my bass and headphone amp in the closet under the stairs.

I could have brought all the alcohol and grass I wanted to work and nobody would have noticed, because no one else but me worked yesterday or the day before. My job is that kind of jod where you can't be late or call in sick even if a damn zombie is chewing your arm off
But to make up for my sober and dull new year night, I have a lot to do during my next week off! finally got a speaker to replace the blown one in my cab, my first wah pedal should arrive tomorrow, and possibly I'll grab that EHX sitar simulator pedal I'v been drooling over the last 5 days.
Last but not least, I ordered a feedback looper from a well-known local builder. That was just pure irrational GAS, since I don't have a modulation pedal to use it properly nor enough patch cables to hook it to my chain either.
Gotta buy all the gear I can while I'm still young and single |

Happy New year everyone. Looking forward to creating a fulfilling band in the coming months, and on a lesser note finishing the pedalboard scale-down in the next few days! |

When I drove the Mini I did that, was nice having another set of beater wheels for the winter to get scratched up and flip on nice rims for summer. Your car with 4 winters would probably get around better than my 4x4 with all-seasons.

Obviously dropping the cash on snow tires would be a more economical solution than buying a new car. It is absolutely pitiful with all seasons, so I'm wondering if it will go from pitiful to barely acceptable at best. If there's like an inch of compressed ice I seriously can't even back up out of a parking space. I've never had to buy snow tires for my previous cars, so I don't know how big of a change they have.
I love my Mazda to death and my only complaint is how it handles the snow, so maybe I should just do the tires and try them. |

For me, winter tires are like night and day. Like I said on my Mini (another very small / light hatchback) they made a world of difference. I lived at the top of a steep hill that would completely slick over, and my Mini could climb up the ice and snow when I turned traction control off. It was front wheel drive and with snow tires on it went wherever you pointed the steering wheel.
I can tell my 4x4 SUV has less traction on snow/ice with all seasons than my Mini had with winters. If my car was newer and I wanted to avoid scratches and dings, I'd have winters on it for sure. But I don't mind knocking into stuff here and there to save the cash, and 4x4 always gets me un-stuck.
