It's funny too, not just ragging on her, she's super supportive of me playing it seems until I actually have to do anything that interferes with our time. I'm happy with that... but I still need to practice... we'll figure it out. There's lots of closets there... If you need me I'll be drunk with my bass and headphone amp in the closet under the stairs. | Please tell me that there really isn't a closet under the stairs and you are drinking in there and jamming stoner riffs...
That is kind of awesome. I imagine opening the door mid bass face.
If sister in-law is indefinite, I wouldn't count on practicing there. I can't get my volume above 2 (of 10) with an 8 ohm cab @700 watts bridged... with my 9 mo/old. Wife says too loud. Can't imagine my entire rig, drummer, and guitar player too.

My New Years was meh, I lost the taste for alcohol, but won't say I quit drinking yet. So I'm home from school and my parents had a party everyone got wasted and I went to bed early and sober, though someone left a full 1.75L bottle of nice vodka, and two bottles of wine I grabbed up, I might not drink much but my friends do. Practicing bass wizardry like Harry Potter under the Stairs, sounds fun, need an epic creature in there with you like an owl or Griffin.

But to make up for my sober and dull new year night, I have a lot to do during my next week off! finally got a speaker to replace the blown one in my cab, my first wah pedal should arrive tomorrow, and possibly I'll grab that EHX sitar simulator pedal I'v been drooling over the last 5 days.
Last but not least, I ordered a feedback looper from a well-known local builder. That was just pure irrational GAS, since I don't have a modulation pedal to use it properly nor enough patch cables to hook it to my chain either.
Gotta buy all the gear I can while I'm still young and single | After playing with my looper, I'd say you need a delay, and wah, and nice to have a phaser and synth. IMO, the Phase and Synth take it to the next level.

No such luck, thrown right into the deep end with work waiting for me, problems to solve, even had an unscheduled delivery waiting for me when I got here. At least the coffee is strong.
Oh...and the proposed Stoner/Doom band a buddy asked me to help him start seems to be on. We're getting together tonight or tomorrow to work on riffs and apparently he said he wants lots of collaboration, as much participation in writing, singing and planning as I want to put in. His exact words were something along the lines of "consider me the guy answering YOUR want ad, I want to help you start a band". So that's cool, hopefully it pans out.

I'm tempted to build a Mudfuzz VI sometime later this year. Take a Danelectro Longhorn bass neck and install it on something like a telecaster body. Modify the headstock to fit six tuners and maybe reshape the headstock a little. Instant 30" scale telecaster. Might go dual humbuckers on this one. Tune it low and write some sludge.

On the topic of the "Mudfuzz", I might even get a baritone tele neck from Warmoth. It'll be a little more expensive and only a 28.5" scale, but it'll probably feel, play, and look better.

Depending on what tuning you want to use you want to choose a different scale neck, 30" is best for tuning like an E standard bass with two more high strings. 28" scale is best for A standard down to F standard, and 27" Is ideal for B - G. And then you have string gauges to worry about as well. I've been down this road many times if you got any questions I can try n help ya out.
