Lazy sprocket from byoc looks like my only option?

You jacked into both at all times. Then the FAC/Depth is now a pot which blend between the 2 inputs so you can use that control which input is more present. Baxandall EQ out of a Matamp GT120. Then a mix of the phase inverter driver from a DR103 with the phase inverter of a Matamp. All into 6 EL34s in this design with Partridge iron. Dual Master Volumes, one pre phase inverter and one post phase inverter |

My apologies if this is excessively OT, but I've just about had it. It's a long shot, but here's hoping one of you electronics wizards can help me out.
I'm working on rehousing a SF-300 circuit, which is a clone of a Boss Hyper Fuzz FZ-2. Anyway, this board is mostly surface mount components. While desoldering a pot I cracked off an SMD resistor. I replaced it with a regular resistor. I've checked the joint with a MM and the connection is solid.
Here's where it gets weird: I've got the whole circuit wired up and it works, however it's quieter than bypass, UNTIL I touch one leg of the resistor I replaced with my thumb and the other leg with my index finger of the same hand. The effect slowly gets louder and louder over the course of about 10-15 seconds until it's louder than bypass (how it should sound). If keep my fingers here the circuit works indefinitely. As soon as I release my fingers, the effect gets quieter and quieter over the course of 10-15 seconds until it's back to "really quiet".
What the hell? What electrical capacitance/resistance/inductance/grounding/whatever could my fingers be creating that causes this? Furthermore, any idea what the hell I can do to either A: Fix the damn thing B: Simulate whatever the hell my hand is doing electrically and implement it? |

I've hacked up a good amount of the circuit, I bet there's a disconnected ground plane or something somewhere. Off to ground everything everywhere. Dunwich, you're the Electronics-savant-doom-wizard of the month by my decree, it's official. |

Very versatile and useful. I still want to swap you for that green enclosure... Gold for green...

I was looking forward to a quiet evening of drinking beers (metropolitan Krank Shaft), watching the latest Doctor Who Christmas special, and listening to records.
That was until my buddy in cstvt texted me while I was walking my dog after work, to inform me that there was a verellen meat smoke preamp on CL (and only about 10 minutes away). I didn't need one, and our friend had the actual meat smoke head which was cool but not exactly mind blowing (IMO of course). Then I saw the price...
$350 for what could be considered a brand new meat smoke pre. Needless to say I was in contact with the guy within minutes, and within the hour it was mine.
Wasn't sure if I was gonna keep it (but for $350 I could not pass it up) but after some tweaking around I have to say its totally a keeper. I'm bypassing the pre on my GK and using the MS as the pre and it sounds amazing.
I probably won't use it live too often, but at home, in the studio, and the random jam where I can't bring my amp this thing is perfect.
Anyways, enough of my rambling, here's how I'm rolling at home now.... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
