Seeing as how albums can be any where from 15 to 50 bucks I`d rather not waste my cash on a bunk album.

I skip over a lot of the artsy fartsy ambient/noise stuff on each album, but I think all their albums are solid.

You can get the B40 with no pickup routing for an extra $50 and they just package up the pickups and electronics separately. One of the guys in the Carvin club thread had one (or a B50 maybe) made that way and had it routed for a P pickup. Personally I wouldn't want to do that, too much b.s. to deal with.

It's not as if routing the pickup is the last thing they do and they just stop before they get there. It's in the middle of the process somewhere and also, most likely, a C&C process. So they have to do something special to NOT do it, interrupt the normal work flow and alter parts of every following process. Hence, more money for what's perceived as "less" in the end result. I run into the same sort of thing when it comes to pricing windows and doors for work. The logic process most people apply to determine why it should cost less or more doesn't really factor into how it's actually produced, most of the time.

Question, how deep are the Peavey 215D's?
EDIT: found it, 19 inches, which means it not a 215D, 14.5Inches is what the guy said? Still worth it?

They make great stuff at a really good price, but I'm not looking for just a bass, I'm interested in specific sounds and feels. Not a criticism, just I think this is something that the OP of that thread doesn't understand.
I've thought about getting one of their necks and making my own bass from that, but have never had the time/money to get around to that project. |

Xerograph
Psilocybe
T1M Booster / Buffer
Malekko 616
Fuzzrocious Modulated Bass Delay
TB Loop (DD6)

Y Box -> Effects Out
Meatsmoke -> Preamp Out
So, if your looking down at the board the right side has a power port and a jack that I wired for my input. The left side has 3 jacks. These are configured as a Meatsmoke out( to power amp), a dry output from after the tuner, and an output from the end of the board (before the Meatsmoke). This allows for a few cool applications. I usually run board, ms, amp. But I could easily use the dry out for a clean/ dirty rig or run stereo with the from the ms out & the effects out. It even allows me to bypass the Meatsmoke it that's not the tone I'm looking for or if I just want to use a different amp. I'm pretty stoked on it. There is a shot of the sides and underside on the Pypb thread. I separated the signal using cmatmods mini buffers and small y boxes... Essentially little pedals with no switches. It makes the floor under the board glow a little bit.
Also, good morning! This is my first time using the new app... Not terribly annoyed yet.

I could easily see myself using Carvin for the rest of my days. Something about those necks is just so perfect. I got to play an LB76 while in Pasadena, and if felt like it was custom made for me.
But the lack of a P option is a glaring deficit for them. And yeah, the B40 seems like a logical bass to have a split P option.
But in general, that thread is a great example of why I rarely venture out into TB in general any more.
In other news I had 2 job interviews and 2 job offers yesterday- one of them being my dream job as a Counselor on base here in Quantico. Only part-time, but it pays some serious money, and puts me up the ladder for a full-time position once I finish my BA in Psych later this year.
Then I can BUY gear instead of deciding what I need to sell. |

I have a good job and make decent money. My wife is currently in school and working part time. Since we got married she's not eligible for student loans or financial aid (don't get me started on that ********). So me spending multiple hundreds of dollars on a bass just isn't possible. Sometimes you have to make due with what you can afford.
I got a new 5-string Ibanez for about $140.00. Is it as good as a Carvin? Hell no. Does it sound awesome through my also cheap 900W rig? Hell yes.
Like others, I'm visiting the rest of TB less and less.
Also: Good morning everybody! Coffee is good! |
