He's got a 10% off deal for pre-paid orders placed before March 1st that is awfully tempting. With the options I want, I'm looking at about $1200. My current gear savings fund is significantly smaller than that, since I emptied it out when I bought the Orange Terror in October.
There are lots of cabs I want to try, and most of them are cheaper than a Dually... but I'm not sure any of them would actually be better. I also was thinking I would get a new bass next, but I really do need a bigger cab than my 210 in the near future. The Avatar 210 thumps, but it just doesn't push as much air outside the practice room.
We'll see how the tax return looks.

I personally think that murder the mountains type production would work out best for your guys overall sound.

Some see $1200 bucks and think, cool, a dually. I see $1200 as cool, I can buy 8 - 2x15" cabs as long as I stick with brands like Peavey, Yamaha, Crate, Fender, etc.
YMMV

I wish I could save up 1200... I'd do a bunch of stuff to my car first with that kind of cash.

If I hadn't gone with a Dually, I would have gone with a Berg 2x15. Used would have only been a few hundred dollars cheaper anyways.
Buying and selling gear all the time is fun, but there's also a great sense of peace when you know you have exactly what you want, and will never want again! |

It did wonders for me. I'd love to play a Dually but I just can't justify the costs. So, I found a cheap big cab and made it work for me.
I might not sound the best but no one ever complains. |

I've thought about buying a different amp, and every time I do I end up just looking for something that does exactly what my Sunn is already doing...but costs about 3 times what I paid for it.
Cabs, I have not looked at a cab to replace my bergs since I got them. I thought about grabbing something significantly smaller for jamming with friends (lightweight 2x12 or 1x15) I still may do that at some point. But as far as I'm concerned my gigging cabs are set...forever.
*diclaimer* I did buy that empty 73' Hiwatt 4x12, but that was because it was just too damn cool to pass up, plus having a cool classic 4x12 around never really hurt anyone. |

The Greenboy cabs are NOT the only gas-killing cabs out there. a lot of times we give that impression, but it's not the case. At all.
If I had a Mesa 610, I probably would not have the fEARful I have. Bergs are mighty high on that list as well.
I must admit though that I am curous about the Big E cabs... |

Often I just have both. It's more vanity/self indulgence than anything, either way. I just like coming up with and executing concepts. The same way I often ponder over whether I could create an entire band backline from one brand and make it work and that sort of thing.

I've been talking to the guy at Gigmaster Soundworks about a Dually. He's not far from here so the next one he builds I think I'll be able to try out. Kind of a "need to hear it to believe it" thing. My Emperors are crazy loud, bassy and pretty damn crusher. If I can get all that in a smaller package then I'll go for it.
