One of my favorite Bass players of all time also. Haven't checked out any Vitersorg, or Darkhall, but I do love his stuff from Iced Earth, Death, and probably my favorite is from Chuck Schuldiner's (RIP) other project Control Denied.

DiGiorgio is the man. Individual Thought Patterns should be standard issue for any metal bassist. I'd also like to say that if DiGiorgio had played on it, The Sound Of Perseverance would have been an astonishingly perfect album (though it's pretty close as is).

Also, aside from his metal projects, I've read that he is currently in some sort of jazz fusion group.

And if you like metal, but don't like the whole cookie monster deal, check out Control Denied. It's basically Death with a different singer.

Definately one of the most progressive minded bassists in the genre, which y'all know I commend highly. He and Sean Malone are two bassists out of that scene who go under the radar too often, two different but equally respectable musicians. I always wondered what it'd sound like if they played both contributed to a single track on a side project.

[btw: fusion project = Dark Hall]

Wow. I just listened to Dark Hall for the first time. Fantastic stuff. Certainly reaffirms my position on Mr. DiGiorgio!

I love is playing(It would be better if he played finger). My fav. song of his is Spirit Crusher-Death great bass playing on that one.

Believe he traditionally does play fingerstyle / pizzicato and only occassionally uses a pick.

DiGiorgio didn't play on "The Sound of Perseverance." A guy named Scott Clendenin did. Clendenin was supposed to play on the Control Denied project as well but he couldn't complete the tracks in the studio right so Chuck called up DiGiorgio who completed the tracks in a couple days, I believe.

For the record, DiGiorgio is almost exclusively a finger-style player. He sometimes taps, and he seldom uses a pick (I know he uses a pick for Sadus's "Down" though, at least live)
