Steve Gadd and Frank Bua, Jr.

Sign in to disble this ad
I know this is a bass site, I would like to see if anyone shares my opinion that Steve Gadd and Frank Bua (NOLA Radiators) have a similar technique and approach to drumming. Both of these guys are probably my favorite drummers. They both seem to have a heavy kick and play back in the pocket. They both seem to have a great feel for the song and know how to propel it.

I would be interested in knowing if anyone else shares this similar opinion. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Frank Bua, but Steve Gadd is a legend!!! Stanley Clarke and Anthony Jackson rave about Steve for very good reasons! Steve's playing on Stanley's Journey to Love project is absolutely awesome!!! He is without a doubt one of my favorite drummers of all time!

Don't know about Bua, but I'm a drummer, and I'd say that Steve Gadd is one of the best living drummers on the planet. He has music oozing from every strand of his DNA. It really doesn't get any better than that. There aren't that many players that I'd give a rat's hiney about meeting, but, shaking Steve's hand Is on my bucket list.

I'm a longtime fan of both drummers, even longer for Gadd. Opened a Radiators show once and they were great. I don't know about similarities, but maybe Bua has drum corps training like Gadd. I used to see Gadd a lot in NY, he will definitely go down as one of the best ever, an amazing drummer on every level and in so many ways.

Nice! Had no idea it was only one take.

Does anyone else hear some kind of click or something during his first drum solo break in Aja?.. towards the end.
