Anyone have any idea what he uses for his bass strap, i have a bad shoulder, and it looks as though he always had an extremely padded strap?

I don't know if this is what Steve Harris uses, but it is extremely padded.

When my shoulder hurts...I just move to my lighter bass.

On the DVD from the Dance of Death tour, his bass tech says that his mother (the tech's) makes them, and they're extremely padded.

You should maybe hit the gym and start doing some weight exercises. No need to pump up but I believe you are lacking a bit of strength and when that happens, the soft tissues suffer (nerve, cartilage).

I wanna say I heard somewhere that Steve's strap was a homemade blanket/quilt thing wrapped around a double strand of metal chain...which would explain why its so padded.

I believe he uses some sort of strap with foam padding duct taped to it. They use the sock things his mother makes to keep his hair from sticking to the tape.

That's from the Death on the Road video.

try a Dare strap....search amazon. I use mine with a 10 lb Warwick Corvette and a 59 year old back. It distributes the weight across both shoulders. Works great. Takes a little patience adjusting first time but it works.

To me it always looked like a regular towel tied around a regular strap. That is what I did to my strap. My bass is quite heavy.
